Description of the problem | The engine shut down while on the highway and a light appeared on the dash saying "stop safely now". I stopped, turned off the engine, and turned it back on. I took it to a an authorized ford repair shop and they said they weren't sure what the problem was. I didn't have another problem for 9 months and then the same thing happened. Again no problem for about 2 months and then it happened again repeatedly. After pulling over and restarting the same problem would reoccur about every 15 miles. I made it to a ford dealership. They are now replacing the coolant pump. I did some reading on-line and this appears to be a common problem with escape and mariner hybrids. Shouldn't there be a recall of the faulty pump? |
