Description of the problem | We have purchased a 2005 lincoln navigator. It is the only vehicle i have seen where there is no "door/flap" in the filler neck to prevent "splash back"of fuel in the event the cap is left off. I have checked the 2006 models, they appear to be the same. The dealer cannot advise why it is like that. I would assume it would present a fire hazard if the cap is accidentally left off. I have checked-there are no recalls as a result of this. If there is an internal splash back protection in the tank, no one seems to know about it. Have put incident date as the date the car was purchased. Thank you. *jb |
