Description of the problem | The coolant reservoir has a known defect well known by the dealership and the service department at land rover. The coolant reservoir has a level indicator built inside the reservoir which gets saturated with coolant and drops to the bottom of the reservoir. Then the low coolant light indicator comes on on the dash giving you a false reading even though the coolant is not low. For this the car owner will need to replace the coolant reservoir which cost over $200 in parts plus labor. The level indicator cost is probable under $5 dollars, but it's built in and unable to replace just that. I think this is poorly built by the manufacturer or is poorly built this way for consumers having to spend hundreds of dollars in parts and labor. |
