 Description of the problemTl* the contact owns a 2003 jeep grand cherokee. While driving various speeds, the air bag deployed independently without warning. The contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road and it was towed to the contact's residence. The contact called geico insurance where an agent assisted with the issue and called the dealer (firkins in bradenton, fl), but the agent was unsatisfied. The agent then called the sunset chrysler dealer in sarasota fl who suggested that the contact bring in the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the sunset chrysler dealer, but was not repaired due to a crack in the dashboard. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v046000 (air bags). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that they were not responsible for the recall repair since the repair date had expired. The manufacturer did not offer any further assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 107,562.
