Description of the problemEngine speed went to maximum with foot on brake (anti skid breaking left tracks and we have photo's!). Vehicle hit park bench, parked car, knocked down 6" diameter tree, and continued to accelerate until ignition was turned off. Examination showed speed control "on" but not engaged. Tire slippage marks indicate that brakes were applied at least three times, but only held on driver side while anti skid pulsed brakes. Shifting from drive to reverse only reversed direction of vehicle and did not slow motor. Total distance traveled was approx 400 feet. Motor appears to have gone to full throttle when transmission was placed in drive and while vehicle brakes were applied (driver has other vehicles [ford and nissan] that require applied brake to engage transmission.) digital photos of the tire braking marks are available. Although entire front end of jeep was demolished, no airbags deployed. *ak
