Description of the problem | Issue: j hooks holding floor mat creates driver safety issue. J hooks are not stationary and when rotate causes floor mat to come loose and create safety issue by preventing properly using gas and brake pedal. Background: purchased 2015 infiniti q50 as cpo infiniti thousand oaks w11,992 miles on 5/4/16. 5/21/16 with 12,622 took first time into dealer to address issue of driver floor mat sliding around and bunching up preventing me at time from appropriately reaching the gas or brake pedal. Dealer indicate this is normal with car models.. 7/26/16 took back to dealer as issue was happening daily. Dealer srv manager looked at and acknowledged issue and offered me new floor mats and replacement of j hooks. Accepted. 8/11/16 3rd time at 16,825 miles. Same issue again with j hooks and floor mat. This time dealer inspected and indicated floor mat comes loose from floor hook. Unable to make further repair to car. I escalated to infiniti customer affairs with letter and phone call. I asked for vehicle buy back under california lemon law. Approx. 12 days later infiniti replied with following: infiniti realizes situations may occur with your infiniti vehicle that, unfortunately, fall outside of the parameters of the new vehicle limited warranty provided with your vehicle. They said no way in not to many words. Talked to lemon lawyer and said be careful dealer doesn't like to be sued, they will hire expert witnesses and if you lose you have to pay for their witnesses. Went back to dealer and was told all the j hooks do the same thing. They are not stationary and rotate around and if you step out of the car and put pressure on the mat it will move. Was told we won't put this into writing. I bought a ugly all winter thick rubber mat which is heavy and doesn't move around. Given floor mat issues infiniti should taker of issue better. |
