Description of the problem | The car had no symptoms of failure. The failure was the throttle position sensor. It fails intermittently without warning during normal driving conditions. During a failure the engine will not respond to any throttle inputs, therefore rendering the car immovable. Car must be restarted to reset throttle sensor. Has occurred in the middle of an intersection and on the highway, both seriously dangerous places to have loss of engine control. After contacting the dealership a new part was ordered, and after two weeks it arrived and works fine now. The two week notice was lack of stock for this part, which might indicate a widespread problem of this part. |
