Description of the problem | Wheel bearings on both front wheels failed. Noise does not appear at speeds under 25 mph but builds gradually from there. Sounds exhibited are intermittent metal on metal squealing and a deep thumping sound, similar to a severely out of balanced tire. At highway speeds, noise will consume cabin. Infiniti has acknowledged this issue by increasing their standard coverage from 50k to 70k miles. However, it should be escalated to a recall due to the high frequency of failures. A quick search on google of fx35 wheel bearing failure yields more results than a few isolated incidents. |
