Description of the problem | I purchased this 2014 hyundai tucson as a second owner from a hyundai dealership for my daughter in january of 2018 with 70,223 miles. Car had been inspected and serviced by the dealership hyundai technicians. On 9/13/2019 while driving the vehicle started making loud banging noises from the engine and experienced difficulty shifting. Vehicle was towed to hyundai dealership where we were told it had experienced "total engine failure" due to metal shavings throughout the engine and it would have to be replaced-my daughter had only put 23 thousand miles on it-the engine failed at 93000 miles.. The replacement could take up to 2 months-most likely due to numerous tucson engine failures . There is a known problem with this engine-just check other sites on the internet. There is a recall with the same engine for sonatas, santa fe, and kia models but not tucson |
