Description of the problem | Rusting of brakes 2006 tucson. Began as a slight sound as if piece of gravel in one rear brake. Suddenly, while on a trip, became much worse. Had to repeatedly bang caliper with hammer to release. It. When taken to shop found rusted out brake rotors (4) and frozen caliper (1) on 2004 hyundai tucson with 23,000 miles. Same washing routine as on all my previous cars. I am now almost 70 years old and have owned, and still own, many cars. I have never seen such rapid deterioration in any other vehicle. Many of them date from the 1970's and 80's. Unfortunately i did not keep the failed rotors. The calipers were rebuilt. All undercarriage structures are inadequately prepared for rust resistance. |
