Description of the problemAug 2010 -- driving on interstate in extremely heavy traffic and engine stalled, losing power steering, brakes, and gas acceleration . Limped to exit, barely avoiding being rear-ended by 18-wheeler and barely got off freeway before engine died. Had to wait apprx 1 hour before engine would start again. Drove very slow and cautiously next 400 miles home with no further problem. July 2011 -- driving in city, turned corner and engine stalled exactly as in 2010 incident described above. Was able to pull into a parking lot before being rear-ended by another vehicle. Only had to wait apprx 15 minutes for engine to start again this time. Made it rest of way home without further incident. For past 3 years, esp light comes on randomly while driving down highway and won't go out. Sometimes pulling over, killing engine, then restarting makes the light go out, and sometimes it doesn't.
