Description of the problem	While backing up from a parking space the steering became difficult & kept trying to bounce back to center. It was intermittently extremely difficult to steer. Took the vehicle to the dealer. They allegedly corrected the issue. That night my husband was driving the vehicle and executed a right turn at speed. The power steering failed and the steering wheel violently jerked back to center. The vehicle straightened out of the turn into the median and toward oncoming traffic. With terrific strength and effort my husband was able to force the vehicle back into the lane and avoid a collision. The driver information center let up with warning messages and the traction control warning indicator illuminated. With tremendous effort we able to safely get the vehicle to the dealership. Since my husband was driving, his strength was the only thing that prevented impacting vehicles in the oncoming lane during the turn. I can only guess that had i been behind the wheel when the steering failed the outcome may have been tragic. The dealership now says the steering rack requires replacement. The vehicle only has 44k miles and is my daily driver.
