Description of the problem | While driving the car in a commercial are the wheel stopped steering. I could not move the wheel left or right and got stuck in an intersection. A police officer came and sat with me while we waited for a tow truck. The car was towed to the ford dealership and was looked at when they opened after the weekend. They put in a request to ford to allow the piece to be replaced under current recalls related to the steering. Apparently the rack and pinion can just break after two years of driving. Since the bumper to bumper coverage was up they said it would have to be paid for by the customer. A car should not be allowed to fall apart after 59,000 miles if it is kept in very good condition. If i had been injured or someone else has been, this would be a very different conversation. The pieces they need to replace and including the labor round up to $2,000. *js |
