Description of the problem | I bought a 2010 ford fusion from shaefer ford in cumberland md on 3/17/10. On 4/15/10 i was driving on 220 south from my home in bedford to cumberland. I passed a truck and then tried to slow down and the accelerator would not respond to the brake pressure. For over 1 mile i had brake all the way to the floor and the vehicle was still going at 45 mph. I saw 4-5 cars stopped in front of me so i turned off the car and was able to steer to the shoulder and the truck passed me. I called shaeffer ford and was towed to their lot. I left the car and later that day i was told that the floor pad had hooked onto the accelerator so that it did not decelerate. They said they check everything and that everything was ok and the brakes were not damaged. I drove the car home that afternoon. |
