Description of the problem | The transmission cooling lines completely corroded end to end resulting in a catastrophic failure of the transmission. Fortunately, this occurred locally and was able to bring the car back to my residence. Should the need arisen to accelerate away from oncoming traffic or avoid an accident, the failure of these lines would have prevented that and could have resulted in an accident or fatality. For a car that is only 5 years old, there is an inordinate amount of corrosion on the frame and suspension components of this car. I compare this to a 14 vw golf with 160,000 miles and 7 year old bmw with 108,000 and neither exhibit corrosion of this magnitude. Through ford fusion/mercury milan/lincoln mkz forums that this is a common occurrence. I have been in touch with my local ford dealer and have that this part is back ordered over 10 days resulting in the need to rent a car. |
