Description of the problem | Driving the vehicle on local street. Exhibited loud noise and started to vibrate. Eventually coming to an abrupt stop. Luckily traffic as light and the car behind managed to stop safely and avoid a collision. Managed to turn the car off then back on and it was operational, exhibiting kind of grinding noise. Ford dealer says the transmission failed and needs to be replaced. Car is fully serviced, no warning lights even when the problem occurred - there was nothing indicating an issue with the car on the dashboard. The car has a bit less than 105k miles, warranty expired at 100k in december 2017. Ford has a few tsbs describing cvt transmissin issues: 14b07 and 17-039. I was never contacted regarding any of the issues in these bulletins and transmission was not serviced. Now it completely failed out of the blue in the middle of the street, barely avoiding accident. |
