Description of the problem	I was driving east on i-90 near bozeman, mt at about 70mph when a warning appeared on my dash telling me to pull over to a safe location immediately. There was an off ramp about 1/4 mile ahead and i began to slow down to take the off ramp when the engine shut down completely and luckily, i was able to bring it to a stop barely on the off ramp within only a few feet of the interstate highway. The engine would not start, so i contacted a towing service and waited for their arrival. They were not due to arrive for about 1. 5 hours and it was getting late in the afternoon. I kept trying to start the engine every 15 minutes or so, and finally after about 45 minutes of waiting, the engine started and i drove immediately back to bozeman ford for assistance, where upon, they discovered that the problem was an exhaust gas temperature (egt) sensor and replaced it. The dealership charged me $100. 00 and said there was no notifications from ford about this problem. Since then i have heard of others that have had the same problem with pickups other than the ambulance packages that the recall covers, and wanted you to know that this could be a serious problem on the road. If my wife and i had been another 2 mile down the road, we would have been in the curves of the bozeman pass, which is narrow and busy and usually icy that time of year. I did talk to my ford dealership in billing, mt soon after the incident, but i never heard back from them. I'm hoping the problem doesn't recur in the future, but hearing about it again on the news has caused me to contact your office.
