Description of the problem | Window fell down (from a fully up position) into driver-side door while in heavy traffic. Sound resembled a gun-shot which distracted my attention from the road and nearly caused an accident. Research shows this to be a common failure in southern and western states due to heat-related component failures. Repairs have not been made at this time due to high cost of parts and labor. Vehicle only has 36k miles and has been very well taken care of and serviced regularly. Due to the number of incidents of failure of the power window system in these trucks, ford should issue a recall before someone gets hurt. Perhaps class-action litigation would force the manufacturer to take responsibility for this obvious design failure. |
