Description of the problem | After the truck passed 76000 i started to notice a tick/knock in the engine. I brought it to ford and they told me this was normal noise for these engines, to me this was no normal. Now the tick/knock/rattle has become worse and i have been told by ford i would need a new engine. This is a very very common situation with the 2004-2008 5. 4l 3v engines. What us ford owners would like is a recall on the cam phasers and vct solenoids. Ford has redesigned both of these parts so they know this was causing big issues with owners of the mentioned make/model/year fords. I do not know how a company, an american company, can get away with selling vehicles where the internal parts of the engine, and american made engine, go faulty before the odometer hit's 100,000 miles. There are normal wear and tear replaceable parts on every car, but when internal engine components fail with a vehicle that is just 7 years old that is not acceptable! |
