Description of the problem | Tl* the contact owns a 2001 ford f150. The contact stated that while approaching a traffic light, the fuel tank separated from the vehicle causing gasoline fuel to spill over the roadway. The vehicle was towed to a local mechanic who discovered that the fuel tank straps were corroded. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and they advised that the failure was under investigation. The failure and current mileage was 115,000. Updated 08/15/11 *bf the consumer stated both straps failed, breaking in the middle of the strap. The tank did drop to the ground and was dragged a short distance. There was damage to the fuel tank and it had to be replaced. Updated 08/24/11 updated 08/31/11 *bf the vehicle has since beem repaired. Updated 09/01/11 |
