Description of the problem | Tl*the contact owns a 2001 ford f-150. The contact stated while driving 70 mph, the fuel tank detached from the vehicle, causing fuel to leak. The contact was concerned that a fire could have occurred due to the fuel leak and sparks. The fire department appeared on the scene to apply chemicals to the fuel tank. The vehicle was then towed to an authorized dealer where the fuel tank, straps and filler neck were replaced. The failure and current mileages were 157,805. Updated 06/01/11*lj the consumer stated both fuel tank straps broke in the middle due to rust. Updated 08/11/11 the consumer stated both gas tank straps broke. The fuel tank detached and dragged under the vehicle and created a hole in the tank. Updated 12/16/11 |
