Description of the problem | Vehicle was driven to store where it sat for 15 minutes before restarting. Upon starting, the engine noise was very loud, sounded like backfiring. Engine was immediately shut off. Vehicle was towed to mechanic. Problem was blown number 8 spark plug, the well known problem where the plug was blown out taking the threads from the head with it. The mechanic was able to tap the resultant hole, add a repair insert, and a new spark plug. |
