Description of the problem	Vehicle began to idle roughly upon cold start, after a few minutes it would idle normally. After a few weeks the check engine light came on. Took to dealer for diagnosis and repair. Was told that the engine needed to be replaced. They said it will take several weeks before they receive a new engine. We were not offered a loaner vehicle, we had to ask for a loaner vehicle. Our vehicle has approximately 28,000 miles. After doing some research online, apparently this has been a known problem with this model vehicle. The problem appears to be a coolant leak into the engine cylinder. There are many complaints from owners of this same problem. Most people have been made to pay thousands of dollars for this engine replacement. We have an extended warranty and, so far, have not been told we will be financially responsible for our repair. Ford has not recognized this as an issue that should be categorized as a recall, thus leaving people with a large repair bill. The engine design obviously have a defect that should necessitate a formal recall.
