Description of the problem | At 35,000 miles, when starting and then while running car started hesitating and check engine light came on. Initially dealer reported it was a spark plug and they replaced it only to have the same issue arise two days later. Back at the dealer an analysis showed that a leak in the cooling system caused fluid to enter into the 3rd cylinder which then cracked the engine. 7 weeks later a new engine was replaced. Only guaranteed for 1 year and original cause of issue (design flaw) not corrected so likely to happen again when out of warranty. Known technical service bulletin on this issue with numerous engine failures and re-failures including vehicle stopping when driving. |
