Description of the problem | Driving down the street under normal conditions when battery light came on and a strong burning smell appeared. Pulled over to find heavy smoke coming from the engine--appeared to be the alternator burning. Took the car immediately to a local garage down the block from incident. They started the car and verified the alternator had failed, was smoking, and about to catch fire. All gauges were misreading. Alternator was replaced but the dash warning lights and electrical components are no longer working. (speedometer, gauges, warning lights, radio...) notified dodge with no resolution to this point. |
