Description of the problem | Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge durango. While driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle started to smoke. The contact coasted the vehicle over to the side of the road and noticed smoke under the hood coming from the alternator. The contact waited a few minutes to restart the vehicle and it lost all power. In addition, the contact stated that the key failed to eject from the ignition switch. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the alternator caused the battery and the computer system to fail. The vehicle was repaired. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v634000 (electrical system). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 93,000. |
