Description of the problem | My 4 year old chrysler started giving off a very strong smell of fresh gasoline each time i filled up the tank. The fumes were so strong i had the car on a lift looking for leaks in the rear of the car. There was no visible leaking of gasoline. The smell was also super strong out side of the rear and sides of the car to the point of fear of someone walking by and dropping a cigar and blowing up from the fumes. The smell was there while sitting and moving. The dealer advised me not to add more than 1/8 of a tank of gas from empty or the fuel would escape from the crack or hole and cause the cancerous smell. The tech at the dealer reported that the fuel was leaking at the filler connector. |
