Description of the problem | Camshaft lifter failure (collapsed / stuck), #1 cylinder after engine was idle for ~5 minutes. Vehicle had 9701 miles at time of incident. This appears to be a relatively common issues with regards to the active fuel management systems on late model gm vehicles equipped with this technology. The service writer at the dealership noted that they have seen several vehicles in for service with the issue of a "collapsed" or "stuck" lifter requiring replacement. There is definitely a flaw in the design or the grade of materials being used as a lifter should not be failing at this rate with very little usage. |
