Description of the problem | Valvestems split at base adjacent to wheel after < 4 months and < 5000miles. These were purchased from general motors (dealership) and installed by a reputable tire store. They would release air at a rate of approximately 10-15psi per 100mi driven and only at freeway speeds. No air loss around town or over night while sitting. Bending the valve stem downward (away from the hub and towards the tire) caused the air to escape. This is the direction they would natural bend while spinning due to centrifugal force. All 4 were leaking or showed signs of damage in the same location. |
