Description of the problem | On 7/1/2011, my 2005 chevy silverado lost brakes. The loss of brakes was caused by a leak from a corroded section of brake line. I had that section of the line replaced and continued to drive. On 6/12/2012, the same thing happened to another section of the brake line. The corroded line split and brake fluid was gushing out. Luckily, on both occasions i was able to stop my vehicle before crashing into someone or something. When i had my vehicle towed to my mechanic, he said that the brake lines were so corroded that he would recommend replacing the entire line for safety. I also had an opportunity to look at the lines and was in complete agreement with the mechanic. My vehicle at the time of the first incident was 6 years old and had 57,751 miles on it. The second incident occurred about a year later and the mileage was 62,719. |
