Description of the problem | The front right air bag sensor in my 2005 chevy silverado failed for no apparent reason causing the air bag system to be de-activated until the sensor was replaced. The vehicle is 4 years old and has 35,000 miles on it and was not involved in any accidents to my knowledge. The issue is that when a sensor fails, the entire air bag system is de-activated until repairs are completed, causing owners to drive the vehicle without the safety feature. General motors made it very clear that they had no intention of correcting the problem for free. Replacement of the sensor cost $275 for labor and parts. A service request was filed with general motors asking for them to pay for the repair and the request was denied. I could afford the repair, however many people may not be able to and will end driving their vehicle without an important safety feature. |
