Description of the problem | I have a 2012 chevrolet equinox with the excessive oil consumption defect cause by defective piston seals. It came on out of nowhere with only 78k miles on the car. We were driving 2 hours home, and half a mile after we exited the highway, while we were sitting in a drive-thru, our engine died entirely due to this defect. If it had happened a minute sooner, my car would have died on the highway, and my family would have been in a terrible accident and possible even killed. Gm is refusing to cover the cost of the engine replacement, despite the fact that they extended the warranty on my vehicle specifically because of the known defect in the piston seals. This is a major hazard to consumer safety, and gm is avoiding issuing a recall to save themselves money. The dealership confirmed my car had the defect which caused the engine failure, and gm still won |
