Description of the problem | Yesterday, i took my 2005 chevy aveo lt (53,400 mi) into the lavery dealership in alliance, ohio, for replacement of an extended warranteed abs sensor. When they removed the front wheels, the brake pads literally fell off. The pads had rusted off the backs of the pads! The mechanic said they would not have had to have been replaced (the pads were still a full 1/4" thick) except for the fact they rusted off the backs!!!) these are gm part #96475176, acd#171-0877, gm daewoo, made in korea (i still have the old parts). They are cheap quality and could have cost me my life had they not been discovered! As the mechanic explained to me, the danger is if one of the separated pieces of the brakes slipped and moved forward, it could immediately lock the brakes! Dealer replaced the front brakes at my expense. The abs brake warning light had never come on. |
