Description of the problem | I own a 2005 chevy aveo. Have owned since 7-15-05. No problems except for head gasket replaced while still under warranty. On 3/23/09, i was on the way to work & went to pass a car. As i pulled back in to the lane & took my foot off the gas the cars speed still increased. Applied brakes and could still feel the engine pulling as if i were still pressing the gas pedal. Slid in to neutral and the rpms raced to 7. I flipped back in to drive & the car kept speeding up. Put back in to neutral & hit the gas a couple of times to try & kick it down & it finally went after the 3rd time flipping it back & forth between neutral & drive. Side note: car was sitting out all night in with temp dropping to teens with windchill. This is the second incident. However, the first time it was not this extreme. I was at approx 80-85 mph before it kicked back down this time. |
