Description of the problem	While traveling to a doctor appointment at approximately 2:30 pm on 11/18/09, i hydroplaned on the wet interstate i 40 east, near exit 37, slid sideways at a 90' angle to outside lane of i 40 east, attempted to countersteer into the slide, which caused my vehicle to spin 360' and strike the concrete lane divider head on at 40 or 45 mph. The vehicles air bags did not deploy, and i probably sustained a greater chest contusion to my sternum due to seat belt restraint impact to my chest. This has also caused an increase to back pain due to a prior problem of 3 fused vertebrae in my upper spine and probably a fractured sternum, but x-rays are not conclusive. I can not help but think had the airbags deployed i would not have sustained such a severe blow to my chest and would not have been injured nearly as bad as i have been. I believe the air bag system malfunctioned as the car was a total loss, and the impact knocked me unconscious for about 15 seconds. I remember the back wheels of the vehicle flying up into the air, and the rear end bouncing back to the ground.
