Description of the problem | The dashboard on my avalanche has developed a fairly significant crack right next to the passenger side airbag. The crack starts from towards the windshield side and leads up to and terminates at the crevice where the airbag is located. This in my opinion jeopardizes the integrity of the airbag. The concerns are that (a) the airbag may not deploy in the intended direction (b) may get ruptured due to making contact with the sharp edges of the crack or (c) may deploy unintentionally due to the weakness of the material holding it in place. This is a safety issue and gm needs to address it as such. |
