Description of the problem | While driving down a straight road at 50 mph, a very loud pop was heard almost like an explosion. I pulled to the side of the road and noticed the entire sunroof had shattered. It was a clear day with temps in the 70's. No other vehicles were in the vicinity at time of event. No road debri was noted on roadway. The glass appeared to be pushed out like it was caused by a pressure difference. At the time of event, all the windows were up with the a/c on. Pieces of the glass had flown back and scratched the paint down to metal on both the roof and trunk-lid. I had my two small kids in the back seat at the time and they were both terrified after hearing the noise. Luckily the shade cover was in place and no glass entered the passenger space. Bmw is not willing to investigate the incident or cover the cost. |
