Description of the problem | This does not refer to any specific incident. After purchasing the car i began to notice that when i accelerated from a stop, the car always surged ahead after a fraction of a second. I was told that the turbocharger on the 2 liter engine "spooled" at 1600 rpms and caused the surge. It is a very uncomfortable feeling to find the car surging ahead when you just touch the gas pedal slightly. When you're stopped in back of another car, the car surges ahead and you have to be very wary of "rear ending the other car. Unfortunately, it is my understanding that this surge is a normal part of the turbocharger, but it creates a definite possibility of a slow speed collision. |
